Adenosquamous carcinoma of the pancreas (ASC) is a variant of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), but the prognosis remains unclear. The purpose of this study was to clarify the prognosis of ASC using a matched case-control design. Methods . We evaluated clinical characteristics of ASC treated between 2001 and 2011 in our institution.

In the current study, the authors describe their experience with the fine‐aspiration biopsy (FNAB) diagnosis of ASCa and characterize cytologic features in 14 cases. Pancreatic cancer is the 6th leading cause of death in Europe, while the incidence rate approaches the mortality rate . Adenosquamous carcinoma is a rare entity of pancreatic cancer. Institutional reviews of autopsy and surgical specimens suggest an incidence of approximately 4% of all pancreatic neoplasms. A number of types of pancreatic cancer are known. The most common, pancreatic adenocarcinoma, accounts for about 90% of cases, and the term "pancreatic cancer" is sometimes used to refer only to that type. These adenocarcinomas start within the part of the pancreas that makes digestive enzymes. Furthermore, the detection rate was also assessed using biopsy cases obtained from endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNA). In what is believed to be the most comprehensive analysis of adenosquamous cancer of the pancreas (ASCP), the Mayo Clinic and TGen team identified, in preclinical models, therapeutic targets for this extremely fast-moving and deadly form of pancreatic cancer, and identified already available cancer inhibitors originally designed for other types of cancer, according to a study published today Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is the most common form of pancreatic cancer, which is projected to kill nearly 57,600 Americans in 2020, making it the nation's third leading cause of cancer-related death, according to the American Cancer Society.

Background: Adenosquamous pancreatic cancers (ASQ) constitute 1-5% of all pancreatic cancers. The clinical and molecular understanding of this aggressive variant, along with potential differential response to systemic therapies, is an understudied yet important topic. Methods: After obtaining Institutional Review Board approvals, the Johns Hopkins cancer registry and electronic medical record was interrogated for histopathological and clinical characteristics of ASQ.
